Calendar sync, explained
How does Google Calendar sync work?
Sign in with Google once from the Calendars tab. Hey Anchor reads your upcoming events into your Today view and Calendar, and can optionally write events you create in Hey Anchor back to your Google Calendar. You control access anytime by disconnecting in Hey Anchor or revoking access in your Google account.
How do Apple and Outlook calendars work?
Apple and Outlook calendars come in through a shared calendar link (ICS). Copy the calendar’s public link and paste it into Hey Anchor. ICS calendars are read-only: we bring events in, and nothing in the original calendar changes. You can add multiple ICS links, one per calendar.
How often do calendars refresh?
Connected calendars refresh automatically in the background about every 30 minutes. You can also tap "Sync calendars now" in the Calendars tab anytime for an instant refresh.
Is my calendar data private?
Yes. Your connection tokens are encrypted at rest, and only you (and a partner you invite to your household) can see your events inside Hey Anchor. We never sell or share your calendar data.
How to connect your calendars
Google Calendar
- Open your Dashboard and go to the Calendars tab.
- Click "Connect Google".
- Sign in and choose the Google account you want to sync.
- Approve calendar access on Google's consent screen.
- You'll be redirected back to Hey Anchor, done.
Apple or Outlook (ICS link)
- On iCloud.com or your Mac, open Calendar.
- Right-click your calendar, choose Share, and turn on Public Calendar.
- Copy the link (starts with "webcal://").
- In Hey Anchor, go to the Calendars tab and click "Add Apple calendar".
- Paste the link, give it a label, and save.
